Today was a crash course in building pages in Springshare, an invaluable tool used by libraries across the country. After my site supervisor reviewed my master list of resources for inclusion in the LGBTQ+ research guide, it was time to build the actual guide. As such, today was learning how to use Springshare and organizing/entering my resources into orderly pages. A long time ago, I had done a small bit of web design, so ultimately Springshare was fairly intuitive. Additionally, I really enjoyed the graphic design aspect of the project. While it was a very full day, I was able to integrate nearly all thirty pages of my LGBTQ+ legal resources into the draft page. I was even able to integrate some design aspects, such as images of covers for featured books.
Additionally, as per usual, I also worked the reference desk. Unlike usual, however, I had the opportunity to assist a public patron over the phone. The patron had called asking for assistance locating resources and also inquiring as to the law school's clinic program. The call was relatively short, but I was genuinely able to assist the patron and I think the reference interaction went very well. Sometimes, public patrons can pose unexpected questions or try to solicit legal advice. I was very grateful this interaction went well. Finally, I was able to peel myself away from the desk to also check out the Women's History Month I had put together for the library, now fully assembled in the front of the library.
