Today, I was expecting to put a sizeable dent in my LGBTQ+ research guide project. However, my site supervisor, Lisa Goodman, had another project in mind for this week. The goal was to put together a Women's History Month display that could be waiting for A&M students as they returned from spring break. This was in collaboration with a student group on canvas. Specifically, the display would showcase books regarding jurist women of color. This felt like a really worthwhile project, so I was excited to get to work. However, there was a fairly quick deadline on the project, since we wanted the display ready for the following Monday morning.
My first task was to locate and pull books that Lisa and the student organization had already identified for feature. Some of these books no longer had covers. As a result, I also found high resolution images of their original covers to print. This would allow the display to look more visually interesting. After all, a book without a cover is not particularly eye-catching. I then put together a number of graphics for the display. Ultimately, I made four and provided them to Lisa for review and selection. I do not consider myself a graphic artist, but I had fun making these images and think they effectively advertised the display.
Photo Description: Some of the books selected for our Women's History Month display. As you can see, some books had covers, while others needed makeshift covers printed.
